Over many years of working on Country with First Nations people, we’ve gathered an understanding of protocol for visiting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
Our two day training course is aimed at workers who are new to visiting and working in Communities and is delivered from an external viewpoint. It comes from a Balanda (Gumatj language for “person of non- Aboriginal origin) perspective.
The course covers visiting cultural conventions and explains how to prepare for visits to, and engagement with, both Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, particularly from across northern Queensland and the Straits.
Our course is culturally assessed and has collaborative input from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island leaders.
Working Visions uses real examples and situations, and encourages thoughtful discussion, culminating in a better understanding of self and of our remarkable First Nations people.
The course is offered in Cairns and Melbourne.
